SPECTACULAR AND ACTIVE HIKE TO THE ALPINE LAGOON

This is a challenging walk to a stunning sight: A lagoon that lies at 1300 m above sea level in a deep glacier basin which is directly under the great Cerro Castillo. Enjoying unforgettable landscapes of the Ibáñez River valley along the route.

LAGUNA CERRO CASTILLO HIKE PROGRAM

This adventure begins in Chile Chico, the gateway community to Patagonia National Park, from where we will board the ferry to Puerto Ibáñez on the northern shore of the General Carrera Lake. There we will transfer to the entrance of the park where our guide will be waiting.

We will ascend 1000 meters (3000 ft) trekking 6.5 km (4 miles). Trek that progressively steepens from the Patagonian forest until ascendingthe last kilometer along a steep spur in the alpine.

At the site, hanging glaciers periodically drop ice blocks onto the rocky cliff below, where they break off and occasionally hit the water.
