PATAGONIA PARK ADVENTURE AND MONTE SAN LORENZO ALPINE TRAVERSE
Patagonia Huts has designed an adventure in Patagonia National Park with a mountaineering experience in Mount San Lorenzo
You will camp on ice and rock, living an experience beyond of trekking through the forests.
To be able to be part of this journey, you need to have “mountain sense” and some technical knowledge that you can get from the Pathfinder Program of Patagonia Huts.
PATAGONIA PARK ADVENTURE
We start the trip in Chile Chico, driving back in time to the original Patagonia:
Walking around the rock formations in Monte Zeballos, besides the Meseta Buenos Aires on the Argentinian side.
Visiting the house of the British/ Argentinenan pioneer of the region and the Information Centre of the Park.
Observing how the grasslands and wetlands of the Patagonian steppe have regenerated, and now are open spaces for guanaco herds. As well as lakes with flamingos and several birds.
SAN LORENZO MOUNTAINEERING EXPERIENCE
We continue to the Fundo San Lorenzo, to start our journey the next morning:
We will walk towards the refuge of Alberto de Agostini, where we will access to the mountain, to explore for a route to the west. We will expend the night on the ice and rocks of the alpine environment of the mountain. The next day we will descend in Cordón Cochrane and sleep in the Fundo Camp.
On the last day, we return to Chile Chico along the Carretera Austral. Driving besides the huge whitewaters of the most voluminous Chilean River and General Carrera Lake. One of the most beautiful scenic roads in Patagonia.
CONNECTING WITH YOUR PATAGONIA ADVENTURE
If Mount San Lorenzo and Patagonia National Park are on your list and you don’t want to miss the main attractions of this destination in the southern cone of America. Our Patagonia Adventure Tour is the reliable way to experience the classic Patagonia and venture to these wild edges. Adding these mountaineering days will be a true experience, where Adventure and Regeneration connect!
The border towns of Chile Chico and Los Antiguos are the gateway communities to the park, easily accessible from both countries: From Argentina, daily buses connect from El Calafate, El Chaltén, and Bariloche. From Chile, travelers arriving from Balmaceda Airport will ferry one of the largest lakes in South America, known historically as Chelenco but now referred to as Lago General Carrera in Chile and Lago Buenos Aires in Argentina.
This Backcountry Experience connect with other outdoor and cultural experiences along the Carretera Austral around Chelenco Lake. At the core of the Tompkins Patagonia Parks Route. We can also help with your connections to continue your Patagonia journey.
